About “One Way Ticket To Oregon”

A story that needs to be told.

When Leigh Anne Rainey receives the diagnosis that her cancer has returned and spread to her pancreas, she’s forced to confront her mortality. A proper southern belle with a rebel heart, she frets over what her end is going to look like, and how it will affect her son, who relies on her stability. With help from her friend June, she explores her limited options and learns about doctors in Oregon, who can help her to “die with dignity”. As she wrestles with her faith, unresolved issues of race and heritage threaten to unravel the core of Leigh’s fragile family. This play is a window into a family’s struggle with life altering choices. It looks at different angles of terminal illness as they are examined through the characters’ journey. How we cope with it, how we are affected by it, and how families are tested by unexpected tragedy.

ONE WAY TICKET TO OREGON written by BC Caldwell, produced by BC Caldwell and Jeremy Aldridge, and directed by JJ Mayes as an Equity Approved Showcase production at The Blue Door in Culver City, which runs April 8 through April 30, 2022 on Fridays & Saturdays @ 8pm, Sundays @ 3pm, Mondays @ 7pm.
